In Amstrdam, Samer presented his ongoing documentary project “Still Here”, a work that sheds light on the lives of Syrian refugees in the Netherlands after leaving the refugee camps.

Through intimate portraits and daily-life moments, Samer tells the stories of Jihad and Ola, two Syrians who represent different stages of integration, resilience, and the search for belonging in a new society. His photographs capture not only their struggles but also their strength, humanity, and hope for the future.

For Samer, photography is more than an artistic practice—it is a way to document experiences and reflect on his own journey of migration and integration. “The stories I document mirror my own story,” he explains.

The exhibition offered visitors a chance to engage with these personal narratives, to see beyond statistics and politics, and to connect with the human reality of displacement and adaptation.

With “Still Here”, Samer continues his mission to use photography as a bridge between cultures, reminding us that behind every journey of exile, there is a voice that deserves to be heard and a story that must be told.
